Advanced Wrist Arthroscopic Procedures Benefit Patients with a Less Painful and Quicker Recovery

The wrist is a complex joint with eight small bones and many connecting ligaments. Dr. John T. Knight, the director of the Hand and Wrist Institute at D.I.S.C. specializes in advanced wrist arthroscopic procedures that are used to diagnosis and treat problems inside a joint.
Using this minimally invasive approach, rather than an open procedure, allows the surgeon to see the anatomic parts and their movements without making large incisions into the muscle and tissue leading to a more accurate diagnosis and correction of the problem.

It also allows for a less painful and quicker recovery and is able to be done safely in our outpatient surgical center, with patients returning home within a few hours of the procedure. Today, some of these procedures can now be done in a stitchless fashion which allows for a more cosmetically appealing result.

Some of the conditions that can be treated with this procedure include: chronic wrist pain, wrist fractures, ganglion cysts and ligament/TFCC tears.
